Public Schools in Pattaya reopened for onsite learning this week with the first full day of classes for most schools being on Tuesday (November 16th).

Pattaya City 5 School and the Pattaya City 11 School are two of those schools that are being allowed to open onsite learning after close to eight months of closures due to Covid-19 concerns and online-only schooling. Students throughout Pattaya took Covid-19 ATK tests on Monday this week, November 15th, with no reports of positive cases.

Ms. Naruemon Intaphong, the director of the Pattaya City 5 School said, “All students from our school’s Covid -19 test results are all negative.”

“Every student wears a face mask at all times. Our onsite lessons are in small groups. We are telling students to avoid playing with friends in their free time at schools and limiting students’ exposure to others at mealtimes. We understand not everyone is happy with these rules but we expect they will be adjusted as time goes on and the situation improves.” Naruemon concluded.

TPN media notes that most (but not all) private and international schools have also returned to school this month and according to Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume 95% of public school students aged 12-18 are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with Pfizer. However, a vaccine is NOT mandatory for students to return to school and each student had parental consent, according to the Mayor.
